Competitions
Competitions IKA 2004.
National - Senior
Daily the perfectly harmonizing national teams are preparing their
menus for the competition in so called glass kitchens, closely watched
by the international jury. The jury assesses technical skills, creative
recipes, artful presentation and taste. Enthusiastic visitors crowd the
"Nations´ Restaurant", where the competition menus are served from noon
on.
National - Junior
Highly motivated is the elite of young cooks from all over the world at the National Youth Teams' Competition.
Right in front of the audience, the young participants - all below 23
years of age - swirl through the "glass" kitchen while preparing their
competition meals in the morning, which are afterwards served in the
"Youth Restaurant". Demanding competition tasks in the cook studios
follow in the afternoon.
Military
Ultra-modern field kitchens are the workplace for the military teams. With little space available, the teams cook under conditions similar to the ones at military exercises or operations. The Military Teams' Competition requires the preparation of a traditional three-course menu, served in the "Restaurant of Military Teams".
Pastry
Sweet dreams come true at the Confectioners' Competition.
Following the great response to the first Confectioners' Competition at
the Culinary Olympics 2000, a meeting of the best teams is again
planned for the IKA 2004. A calm hand and perfect work are necessary to
create those sweet works of art in the cook studios right in front of
the audience.
Community Catering
The aim of this professional competition "community catering" is to
give again and again an incentive to offer the guests a healthy, gently
prepared and digestible meal seen from a nutritional point of view.
Apart from this for the next four years the results of the
international military teams should point the way for troops catering
all over the world. The public, young people in the profession and
everyone, who is interested because of professional reasons, will be
demonstrated new ideas and examples for the practice.
But also the public, the housewives, all the male and female
hobby-cooks as well as the parents and grandparents, who are more and
more endeavoured for the culinary culture, will be expected here.

Erfurt/Frankfurt am Main. Erfurt in Germany is awaiting its guests for
next year's 22nd IKA / Culinary Olympics. From October 18 to 22, 2008,
the world's best chefs and pastry chefs will gather in Erfurt to show
their expertise and know-how in culinary arts. The international
four-day competition which takes place only every four years is
considered the most important event in this field. And while the
hosting German Chefs Association is looking forward to welcoming
colleagues from more than 35 countries, an extraordinary city promotion
was kicked off.
