Australia
The Australian National Team is competing member of the Culinary Olympics since 1980.
This year we can welcome eleven team members who we present to you as follows:
Netherlands
The Nationalteam of the Netherlands is participant of the IKA-Culinary
Olympics since 1980. They won gold in Category R, Bronze in 1996, gold
again in category A in 2000, Silver and Bronze in 2004.
Turkey
The
Turkish National Culinary Team, founded in 1995, consists of 35
national cooks. Umit Yüksel, the team captain, is the executive chef of
Sheraton Istanbul Maslak Hotel.
The turkish team attends the IKA-Culinary Olympics for the first time.
The
Turkish National Culinary Team is participating to an average of four
international competitions every year and has won many awards, as in
2006, 7 Gold, 39 Silver and 16 Bronze Medals in the competitions in
Russia (Moscow and Ekaterinburg) and in Kiev, Ukraina.
Sweden
Sweden is the defending Olympic Champion with victories in both 2000 and 2004.
Average age of the team is 30 years of age.
Team Manager is Krister Dahl. He started his career by in the winning Junior Team at the 1996 Olympics and thereafter been a member of the National team with 2 x victories in World Cup and the two Olympics.
Team Captain is Fredrik Björlin. He was a member of the Junior Team that was runner up (2nd place) in the 2004 Olympics.
The other team members are:
Carina Brydling, chef. Runner up (2nd place) in the WACS Northern Europe final of the Global Chef Challenge.
Tom Sjöstedt, chef. Winner in the Chef of the Year 2008 competition.
Fredrik Borgskog, chef.
Peter Jelksäter, pastry chef.
National-Senior Culinary Team
Portugal is a competing member of Culinary Olympics since 1992. This year the national-senior team is composed by eight members, with an average age of 25 years old.
Paulo Pinto is the captain of the team since 2004. In the last four years senior team has participated in Culinary Olympics, World Culinary Grand Prix (Glasgow), Expogast (Luxembourg) and Mediterranean Culinary Challenge (Cyprus).

Erfurt/Frankfurt am Main. Erfurt in Germany is awaiting its guests for
next year's 22nd IKA / Culinary Olympics. From October 18 to 22, 2008,
the world's best chefs and pastry chefs will gather in Erfurt to show
their expertise and know-how in culinary arts. The international
four-day competition which takes place only every four years is
considered the most important event in this field. And while the
hosting German Chefs Association is looking forward to welcoming
colleagues from more than 35 countries, an extraordinary city promotion
was kicked off.
